In normal times, we’re strong believers that there are so many reasons to be optimistic about humanity… but the events of the last weeks are a stark reminder that we have such a long way to go.

The senseless killings of Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and George Floyd are unfortunately, the tip of the iceberg, occurring amidst the backdrop of a pandemic which is having a disproportionate impact on people of color. This is something that as a society we fundamentally all need to work to address together.

We must begin from within the walls of our own homes and communities, and our own business, by actively educating ourselves, fearlessly championing equality, diversity and inclusion at all levels, and standing up for what we know is right.⁣

EventHi was built by a community of people inspired and united by a love for the cannabis event culture and a deep appreciation for the infinite diversity of the cannabis community and unique experiences bringing all humans together. We yearn to break away from the familiar in order to experience something different and ultimately enrich our lives.

But this celebration of diversity cannot be something we choose to only recognize and value in the context of cannabis events and experiences. It must be something we prioritize every single day within our company.

We are renewing our commitment to building an inclusive and diverse team at EventHi, and ensuring it’s a company where everyone feels welcome and safe. As a first step, we are exploring ways to ensure that we tackle forms of unconscious bias and discrimination from within — because we must first build our own foundation.

This is just the beginning. To all our Black community members: we see you, we hear you, we stand with you. There is so much more work to be done, and we must all be part of the solution.
